Westfund Health Insurance welcomes the Federal Government’s decision this week to relax restrictions on elective surgeries. Westfund has been actively engaged in the consultation process and, via our association with industry bodies Private Healthcare Australia and Members Health Fund Alliance, involved in encouraging the re-start of these valuable services.
“Ensuring our members have timely access to the health interventions they need is at the very heart of the service we provide,” said Westfund Executive Manager – Sales and Member Experience, Jon Goodgame.
“While this decision marks a gradual resumption of elective surgery services, it is a promising indicator that Australians, and in particular our members, will be able to proceed to obtain necessary medical treatment in a timely manner.”
“Cover for elective surgery represents a large part of our offering to members and we are pleased to see progress being made, not only in curbing the effects of COVID-19, but also in resuming service provision for vital health services,” he said.
Westfund has introduced a range of measures to support members throughout this challenging period, including a six-month pause on premium increases, improved access to telehealth claims, improved access to hardship and suspension benefits, as well as continued access to dedicated Health and Wellbeing programs.
This will continue with the introduction of further programs in the near future.
Members seeking advice on their cancelled or delayed surgeries and/or treatments, or who think their condition may have deteriorated, are encouraged to liaise with their medical and care providers to discuss re-scheduling.
Westfund member service consultants are, however, on hand to provide support and advice regarding members’ cover and benefits under their individual policies, as well as to arrangements associated with our Access Gap arrangements.
